Farnsworth Group Launches Green Navigation

July 24, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS...July 22, 2008...Farnsworth Group, Inc. announced today the launch of Green Navigation, an initiative developed for companies, units of government, and other organizations seeking a single-source to help navigate through the multitude of 'green' and sustainable opportunities currently available in the marketplace.

As a national full-service engineering and architecture firm and one of the leading green and sustainability consultants in the nation, Farnsworth Group's Green Navigation will provide all of the Company's sustainable service offerings under one umbrella.  Green Navigation includes Green Planning and Education; LEED Pursuit and Application; Sustainable Architecture and Engineering Design; Building Commissioning; Greening Existing Buildings; Renewable Energy Services; Green Advocacy and Grant Pursuit; and developing Green Corporate Practices.

"With the popularity of green and sustainability in the marketplace, we are all facing an endless stream and variety of ideas and opportunities," said Farnsworth Group President and Chief Executive Officer Karen M. Jensen, PE.  "Whether it's designing a LEED certified building, searching for renewable energy alternatives, applying for grants, or simply implementing a company recycling program, Green Navigation will help our clients better understand the opportunities available to them and how to achieve them.  Our clients are looking to us to help them determine what Green really means for their organization, how it can be meaningfully achieved for their business, when it should be pursued, and their costs and benefits. Green Navigation will work with clients to help answer those challenges."

Market demand and improving technologies are making sustainable and green opportunities more affordable. Whereas in the past companies chose to pursue sustainability as an environmental cause, decision-makers today are seeing a financial incentive to green techniques and ideas.  In addition, a number of incentives such as state and federal grants are being made available to encourage sustainable pursuit.

"Where greening of a building or establishing green policies and procedures was dramatically more expensive in the past, market forces and improved technologies are making sustainability more competitive," said Bethany Trumble, LEED AP, Sustainable Technologies Manager. "Today, decision-makers can do their part to protect the environment and well-being of their employees and tenants without spending inordinate amounts of construction capital. Through sustainable design and practices, we are now witnessing larger facility operating paybacks in shorter periods of time. Green Navigation will help owners identify opportunities and establish goals in conjunction with what makes the most financial sense."

Farnsworth Group is one of the nation's leaders in sustainable design and green initiatives. The firm is recognized as one of the pioneers in the Commissioning industry, having been instrumental in crafting Building Commissioning and LEED guidelines and processes for the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

The firm has provided sustainable building design, building commissioning, and LEED consulting for such clients as The Children's Hospital at Fitzsimons (Colorado), Duke University, Harvard University Allston Development Group, various Army National Guard facilities, Medical Center of the Rockies, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Brown University, just to name a few.
